About Karen & Ben
Way back in December 2009, we got married. Yay! Ben's a designer so was under huge pressure (from me!) to come up with a cool idea for our wedding invitation. After about 20 failed attempts he finally hit on the idea of doing something people could keep, (after all, why spend all that money on something that people are only going to throw away), so we invented the 'Wedding Tea Towel'.
Eventually, we created the Whale design, then came the day of sending them out. People seemed genuinely blown away and the feedback was amazing and almost all of our guests must have RSVP'ed before the day was out. It became one of the most memorable things about our wedding! And now, we still see them in our friend's kitchens!

So, we got married and we both wondered if maybe the idea was good enough to make a business out of, so that's exactly what we did! Our experience in marketing (I was a Senior Project Manager at BBH and Ben runs his own design agency - Citizen Design) means we know how to make you feel at ease, and have the creativity to keep coming up with great new designs.
People often ask "why don't you do mugs, coasters, or sell the idea to schools, and playgroups" but we're not going to diversify in that way and lose focus. It's a simple idea that appeals to the kind of interesting couples we want to work with, and a business that's growing up with a motto to 'design every Wedding Tea Towel as if we're designing our own', that way we know the finished tea towels are created with love and attention.

The printing process for our towels is really old according to Wiki, we use a slightly more modern approach, but in principal it's still the same. When we are screen printing, first a screen is created of your artwork, then this is coated in ink and set in the Carousel, which feeds the blank 100% cotton Tea Towels into the press and prints them, then they go through the oven to bake dry, and hey presto they're ready to be packaged up and sent out to you. Everything from the material to the design to the printing is handled in the UK.
There's two different types of Wedding Tea Towel - White and Natural and two different print types - Digital and Screen printing.
If your order is for between 15-49 then your wedding tea towels will be digitally printed and for orders above 50 they’ll be screen printed. Both have amazing results and to divide the print this way is the most cost effective way for you, our lovely couples, to purchase some wedding tea towels for your special day.
